Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 is listed as one of the best home movie camcorders by Lori Grunin, senior editor from CNET.com. However, people are not giving a high credit for this camcorder. Just like Lori puts it in her review for Sony CX150: “Its small size and attractive price might draw you to the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150, but this bare-bones camcorder just barely delivers on the promise of HD quality.”

For many Mac users, editing AVCHD footage on Final Cut Pro is not very pleasant with many problems & frustration, though Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 claims to give native AVCHD support. In the guide, I will share with you how to batch convert AVCHD MTS/M2TS videos to Apple ProRes format for smooth editing in FCP without rendering.

Step 1. Import AVCHD MTS from CX150 to program.
There are two ways to import AVCHD videos to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac.

    - Capture AVCHD videos from CX150 camcorder

If you choose to import videos directly from camcorder to the program, first of all, please turn on Sony CX150 and connect it to your Mac via USB cable. Launch Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac and follow camcorder wizard to import videos to the program. Imported Sony mts files will be shown on Camcorder Tab of the program.

    - Import AVCHD videos from computer

Choose “Create A Single Movie” to merge Sony CX160 MTS clips into one movie.

Step 3. Convert AVCHD Movie to Apple ProRes.
Click on Export and then choose “Export into Editor”. In the panel, please follow Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 to confirm your output format to Convert Sony CX160V AVCHD Movie to FCP ProRes format.
