Boxee (officially trademarked as BOXEE) is a cross-platform freeware HTPC (Home Theater PC) software application with a 10-foot user interface and social networking features designed for the living-room TV.
Boxee can be used to play/view practically almost common multimedia formats like AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP4, M4A, AAC, NUT, Ogg, OGM, RealMedia RAM/RM/RV/RA/RMVB, 3gp, VIVO, PVA, NUV, NSV, NSA, FLI, FLC, ISO, AIFF, WAV/WAVE, MP2, MP3, AAC, AACplus, AC3, DTS, ALAC, AMR, FLAC, Monkey's Audio (APE), RealAudio, SHN, WavPack, MPC/Musepack/Mpeg+, Speex, Vorbis, WMA, etc.
If you are using a Panasonic camcorder like AG-AF100, which provides AVCHD MTS format for recording family videos, and want to share the videos via Boxee, you will find the videos look green or you can not see anything. If you have the same question, please notice that MTS format is not supported well by Boxee. Maybe some people said that they can play theirs, in this case, please know that MTS is a container format, and Boxee does not support every codec and/or encoding method used in MTS format.
For MTS files from Panasonic AG-AF100, which are highly-compressed, could be difficulty for playing fluently with Boxee. So making a MTS to WMV, MOV, MKV, AVI, or MP4 conversion is good choice. Following are the steps about converting Panasonic AF100 AVCHD videos for Boxee Box.
Step1. Capture Panasonic AG-AF100 videos from camcorder to computer.
Use USB cable to connect Panasonic AG-AF100 camcorder to computer, and run Aunsoft Final Mate (For Mac: Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac), which automatically detects the camcorder and helps you capture videos from camcorder to computer with wizard. Choose the Import option to add videos to the program. And the videos will be displayed under Camcorder Tab.
Step2. Create a movie for merging/converting Panasonic AF100 AVCHD files.
Directly drag and drop AF100 MTS clips from Camcorder Tab to Movies Tab to create a new movie and join clips into one. There will be a pop-out window asking for creating a single movie or multiple movies, please choose “Create A Single Movie” to merge all video footages from Panasonic AG-AF100 camcorder to one movie.
Step3. Export AVCHD to MOV/MKV/AVI/MP4, etc for Boxee Box.
Click on Export button and follow Common Formats > HD Video > HD WMV, HD MOV, or HD MKV, or HD MP4, or HD AVI, etc to convert Panasonic AVCHD to MOV/MKV/AVI/MP4 for Boxee Box supported format.
Wait for a few minutes for the Panasonic AF100 AVCHD conversion. There is less quality losses for converting AVCHD files for Boxee.
Tips:
1. You can editing your videos like trimming, cropping, deinterlacing, applying effect, adjusting volume, etc before conversion.
